Know God’s Will by God’s Word

Psalm 40:8 - I delight to do your will, O my God, and your law is within my heart.

Vocabulary

Will–Thelema (Greek) within God’s plans and purposes, reasoned choices or actions, particular outcomes.

Our God has a plan, a purpose and a will for each person that belongs to Him. That is why God gives each one of us a calling, an identity, and a mission to fulfill within His will for our lives. God’s will is typically broken down into three (3) parts according to Biblical Scholars: God’s

  1. Purposive WillGod’s singular Actions – His primary plans such as creating and forming and filling the Earth.

  2. Prescriptive Will – Things God wants us to do. He prescribes or orders these but allows us to obey or not to obey.

  3. Permissive Will – Things God does not want us to do but allows us to use our free will to do them like Sin.

God wants all of His people to live in unity and agreement with the revealed will in His Word. Let us reason how this must be done.

Firstly, if we belong to God, we must also Believe in Him, Accept and Confess Jesus. (John 6:40). Jesus is our door to God in Heaven.

Secondly, we must become just like Jesus. God justifies us and declares us not guilty unto salvation. But Sanctification says that we must live a life worthy of God and Jesus Christ. (1st Thessalonians 4:3).

Thirdly, God’s will and goodness should be exampled and lived out daily as a lifestyle. (Deuteronomy 29:29). Others must see and observe that we belong to God and that we carry out His Will each day.

Fourthly, Study God’s Word often. (1st Timothy 2:15). Studying God’s word, using advice from Godly Counselors and using Godly wisdom and knowledge will allow each Believer to follow God’s orders carefully and faithfully to order our lives according to God’s Will. “Amen”.

Conclusion

As far as we Believers are concerned, no decisions should be made without first consulting with God first. God has a plan and a purpose for everything in our lives. God knows everything from the beginning to the end. Therefore, before you plan, pray and see what God’s Will is first. Praise Him!
