Happy New Year

Proverbs 16:3: Commit thy works unto the Lord and thy thoughts shall be established.

Vocabulary - Commitment - Committere (Latin), To deliver for safe keeping, to entrust, to cosign, to bind as by a promise, or pledge, or resolution, or dedication.

Resolution - Committere (Latin), The act or result of decisions made; decisions as to future actions, the resolute quality of a mind action.

Welcome dear Saints to the year of our Lord 2022 A.D. When you add up the numbers in 2022, you get the number six. In spiritual connotations, six represents testing and the number of mankind. This may indicate that we have more trials and more tribulations to look forward to in the New Year as far as the Covid pandemic is concerned. It seems that more variants are on the way; the flu virus is going to play a larger part and that there will be breather shortages coming other than with coffee, chocolate, candy (peppermints), grape products, and gasoline. What then should be in our resolutions for the New Year? The Apostle Paul gives us great food for thought in Romans 12:1-2. Let us view what he says: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable. And do not be conformed to this world, but he transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

In other words, take God into partnership and into relationship and your plans shall succeed. Also, dedication is the key to your commitments and to your resolutions. Let us examine these further: Be a part of the WHOM.

W-Worship - For believers, sin and iniquity are great stumbling blocks. Worship allows us to render reverence and homage to our Lord. We can ask for forgiveness, we can repent, and then walk in the Spirit with our God.

H-Honor - Believers honor God by loving Him, esteeming Him, and respecting Him and our neighbors too.

O-Obey - Believers submit to God’s authority, carry out His orders (commands, ordinances) and are guided by the truth of His Word.

M-Ministry - Believers serve the Lord and others with their good deeds and works.

The WHOM helps us in 2022 by allowing us to:

Commit our bodies and minds to God and His will - Romans 12:1-2

Commit our salvation to God and separate from the world in spirit, thoughts, values, and actions.

Commit our works to God - Proverbs 16:3

Commit our goals in life to God - Psalm 37:5

Commit even our sufferings to God - 1 Peter 4:18

Commit our hearts, spirits, and souls to God - Psalm 31:5

Conclusion

All such commitments will be accepted and honored by God in the New Year and at all other times also. 1 Corinthians 15:58 Praise the Lord!
