Happy Holidays or Holy Days

Colossians 2:16 - Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days.

Vocabulary

Holiday – Heorte (Greek), a religious festival day; a holy day; a day of freedom from labor, often set aside by law or tradition; a day of joy, a day of happiness.

Holy Day – Hagag (Hebrew), a day set aside for Religious use; a Sacred Day; a day deserving deep respect; a day of celebration, a festival day; a day of joy and dance.

Christmas – Christo Missa (Latin), Christ’s Mass, a service honoring Jesus including communion; a holiday celebration on December 25 annually honoring the birth of Jesus the Christ.

The Apostle Paul is teaching us that what we eat or what we drink depends more upon our diets rather than on our Religious state or the days that we consume these things. Also, the days, the times and the occasions that we choose to celebrate are a personally chosen matter and only God Himself can judge us. As true Believers, our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ has set us free to observe our Holy Days in His Name.

As Christians, we should not allow others to criticize our diets, or our other holiday ceremonies such putting up trees or not; or decorating with lights or not; or even putting up wreaths or not. All of these things are outward showings. What is really important should be our focus on our Faith in Christ Jesus. Having the right relationship with Him is more important that menorahs of Hanukkah, waiting on St. Nicholas (Santa Claus) or even Celebrating Three Kings’ Day. Christ Is The Key! And, Jesus Is The Reason For The Season. Amen.

How To Celebrate

I. Prayer – Isaiah 56:7

The Servants of the Lord must Honor Him in prayer before, durin

g, and after celebrations.

II. Christian Fellowship – Philippians 1:25

The Lord wants His Believers to care and share together when they celebrate.

III. Christian Giving – 2nd Corinthians 8:2

The Lord wants His Believers to give liberally to those who have need.

IV. Christian Comfort – 2nd Corinthians 7:47

The Lord wants His Believers to sooth the troubles, or the sorrows of His People, and also to console those who are going through something that is disagreeable. All Godly Celebrations should abide by these guidelines. Amen.

Conclusion

December is Holiday Time. It has more Celebrations than any other month. Joy is everywhere. As Believers, we must always purpose in our hearts (Acts 11:23) to have a joyous time in the Lord by placing Him first in all things; our families and friends second, and then we ourselves last. Happy Holy Days and if the Lord says so; we shall see you all in the New Year of 2023! Praise The Lord!
