Confident in The Lord’s Promises

Philippians 1:5-6: For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Vocabulary

Fellowship – Koinonia (Greek). Companionship, a mutual sharing together; a group with the same caring interests; communion; union together.

The Apostle Paul wrote this Epistle to those Believers at Philippi as a form of thank you for their help to him in his time of need. The Apostle also uses this occasion to teach on Christian unity. This is a foundational idea of our faith that Christ is our ex

ample of humility and of service. It is because of Jesus – the body of Christ – that we as Believers can have singleness of purpose, oneness of attitude, goal a

ttainment and labor or work to our goodness. Therefore, the idea is that there will be nothing missing on God’s part in performing the work He started in us through Christ Jesus. This is God’s part. But what is the Believer’s part in showing their duty to God. As Believers? We should be examples just like Jesus. Let us examine this more closely.

Each Believer should be an example “In the Word of God” (2nd Timothy 2:15). We should teach, instruct, and preach sound doctrine so that God will get the Glory. Next, we should be an example in our “Conversation” (Galations 1:13). The whole conduct of our daily life should be an example of Christ Jesus. Thirdly, we should be an example of Love (1st Corinthians 13:4). Love is the greatest example that Believers should show in this world. Fourthly, what we should show is the Spirit (1st Corinthian 12). We as Believers are endowed with Spiritual Gifts; we must use them to edify the Body of Christ – the Church. We also must live in a manner that shows that we have the Spirit of God, living within us at all times. But we must also be examples in Faithfulness (2 Tim. 3:2) and Holiness (1 Pet. 1:15) because these validate our daily lifestyles as being of Jesus in our Sanctification.

Our God who began this good work of Salvation and deliverance within us by way of His Son Jesus the Christ continues this work from the time we are saved until the time we are able to see Him face to face in Heaven. When our Lord and Savior died in our place, this work started. Then we believed on Jesus for salvation. Now God’s Holy Spirit lives in us and is helping us to become more and more like Jesus each day. This is Christian growth and maturity, and it will be successful for each Believer until we reach Heaven and become glorified or until Jesus returns again in the Rapture. Amen.

Conclusion

God is not like Man. Sometimes when man starts a project, the project does not end up getting done or completed. God is not like that. When God starts a project, He will complete what He starts. All Believers that have been saved under Jesus’ watch will be kept by God and His Holy Spirit until they get to their place of rest and reward in Heaven. How do we know? It is a promise of God. Godkeeps all of His Promises (2nd Corinthians 1:20).Praise God!
